Jeopardy! announces fall premiere date, Ken Jennings joining show as producer”

Fans of the show were excited - and a little shocked - to learn that former contestant and Greatest Player of All Time, Ken Jennings, is officially on staff at Jeopardy!

And fans of the iconic program should fret not as venerable host Alex Trebek, 80, will also retain his front-facing duties despite his harrowing battle and ongoing treatments for stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The show announced new episodes would premiere September 14, and it will have a fresh look amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Back in March, when everyone was hoping that coronavirus would quickly blow over, beloved TV quiz show Jeopardy! got rid of their live studio audience before quickly shutting down production, forcing us to watch reruns and othernotablemoments to get our question-asking fix.

Jeopardy! has been rerunning episodes for the past few months, including taking a deep dive back to the beginning of Trebek's tenure on the show. As a consulting producer Jennings will present some of the show's newest categories, offer clues, develop other Jeopardy! projects and help the team in their search for new contestants.

The syndicated game show returns with all-new episodes in its 37th season on September 14. And a new executive producer, Mike Richards, replaces longtime chief Harry Friedman, who retired in May.

"Though I've played my last round of 'Jeopardy!' as a contestant, I'm delighted to have the opportunity to remain involved with my favorite show", Jennings said.

"On a personal level, I'm excited because it gets me out of the house", Trebek said in an announcement of the new season from Sony Pictures Television. "It gives me something to do on a regular basis, and I was missing that". "I hope he hosts Jeopardy! forever". "I've seen him plenty on TV looking younger and better at 'Jeopardy!' than me" during his 32-game streak past year.

It's been a guessing game as to who will replace Trebek once his contract ends in 2022.

Trebek said he also will continue to be the host.
