Miami Dolphins release quarterback Josh Rosen

Miami Dolphins release quarterback Josh Rosen”

Rookie Tua Tagovailoa is one of two quarterbacks on the Miami Dolphins' roster. It also gives Rosen a fresh start and a rare third chance to salvage his National Football League career. According to Adam Schefter, there weren't any teams willing to move pieces for him. With that being said, it's been reported that the Dolphins were looking to trade Rosen, this week.

"Josh, he worked hard, he competed, he did everything we asked, but at the end of the day, we just felt like moving on was the best thing for the Miami Dolphins", head coach Brian Flores told reporters Saturday. Show me a team that has hit on every one.

While Tagovailoa came aboard as the fifth player picked in the 2020 NFL Draft, Fitzpatrick is preparing for his 16th NFL season after starting 13 games for Miami last season. We've moved on from Josh. "So I'm not saying there is any regrets".

His performance and durability during training camp convinced the team he is. Then, just a year after he was drafted, Rosen was traded to Miami so the Cardinals could take Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Though there wasn't a clear path for Rosen to become the Dolphins' starter again, it is somewhat surprising the team decided against developing Rosen - with his cheap $750,000 salary - as a backup. However, the Dolphins' willingness to trade him seemingly indicates either they expect Fitzpatrick to be back for Week 1 or Tagovailoa would be next in line.

Credit Flores for refusing to name Fitzpatrick his starter, but anyone with a functioning brain who's been paying attention believes that's exactly who will get the nod against the Patriots. As I stated on the podcast Friday, being the #3 quarterback wasn't a realistic option for Rosen as he would receive no reps in practice and wouldn't grow as a player.

"He's a hard-working kid", Flores said of Rosen.
