Another Peel District School Board staff tests positive for coronavirus

Another Peel District School Board staff tests positive for coronavirus”

A staff member that works at one of the Peel District School Board's Brampton offices has tested positive for COVID-19.

The last day the employee worked was August 28.

When school opens next week, if a student or teacher tests positive, only people considered to have been in close contact with the person will be directly contacted by health officials, said Dr. Monica Hau, associate medical officer of health, during a presentation to the PDSB on September 1.

Logue said the office has been cleaned since August 28, and has also undergone enhanced cleaning since. "The identity of the individual is protected under privacy legislation and can not be shared", Superintendent of Education Michael Logue wrote to staff in a letter on Tuesday.

The positive case at Ross Drive Public School was confirmed in a letter sent to parents by Principal Greg Harris. "The building will remain open and no further action has been suggested by Peel Public Health at this point".

Peel Public Health will advise PDSB if there are any other measures that need to be taken by everyone to reduce the risk of transmission.

Both Ross Drive Public School and the North Field Office have been cleaned since the 27 and 28 respectively, but PDSB is urging staff to follow the established screening and infection control steps, and monitor themselves for symptoms.
