Hall of Fame Mets pitcher Tom Seaver passes away at age 75”

The unpleasant news has been shared by his wife Nancy Seaver and daughters Sarah and Annie on their social media handle, where they say "They are heartbroken with the news as their loving husband and father has died, they have sent love for his fans as they are mounting the loss with his well-wishers".

Seaver passed away on Monday from complications of Lewy body dementia and COVID-19, according to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Seaver was dubbed Tom Terrific during his historic run with the Mets from 1967 to 1977, when he won 198 games.

Nicknamed Tom Terrific and The Franchise, the revered Seaver was a five-time 20-game victor and the 1967 NL Rookie of the Year.

"As a longtime member of the Hall of Fame Board of Directors, Tom brought dignity and wisdom to this institution that will be deeply missed", Forbes said in a statement.

"Tom was a gentleman who represented the best of our National Pastime", MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. He is also sixth all-time in strikeouts (3,640), won three ERA titles and received 98.8 per cent of the vote on his first Hall of Fame ballot - the greatest percentage of votes ever for an inductee at the time. He transformed the franchise after many years of losing into one that was respected around baseball.

Tom Seaver has even played for the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago White Sox. This happened on June 16, 1978, at Riverfront Stadium after tossing five one-hitters. He finished his career with 311 victories and with a 2.86 ERA.
