Railways to start booking for 40 pairs of trains from September 10”

Stoppages will be restricted and will be taken into consideration discussion with respective state governments. This is different from the Vande Bharat train-sets that the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) used to operate in the pre-lockdown phase.

Later Shramik special trains services started from 1 of May mainly for the workers who were stranded in other states due to lock down.

Yadav said the Railways will be monitoring all the trains that are now in operation to determine which trains have long waiting list.

Some of the new trains include those on the Delhi-Indore, Yesvantpur-Gorakhpur, Puri-Ahmedabad, New Delhi-Bengaluru routes.

These trains are operating with one second AC and third AC coaches each, seven second class sleeper coaches, three second class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches with generators.

The central government has also declared to resume the metro train services from 7 of September.

"It is also possible that some new trains would be introduced or the existing trains might be renamed or rescheduled", Yadav said. Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav said that these new trains will run in addition to 230 trains that are already running. The occupancy of special trains is being monitored on a regular basis and additional special trains may be run based on the requirement, the national carrier said. However, within 3-6 months, when we get definite status of land, bullet train project completion timeframe can be worked out, he added.

Witnessing a surge in demand, Railways has chose to run 80 more trains on various routes across India from September 12, including a Vande Bharat Express, a Shatabdi and a weekly Shramik train.

Announcing the move, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the facility will also be extended to students appearing for the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam.
