Coronavirus Ireland: three further deaths and 357 new cases”

It has emerged that pubs that don't serve food won't be allowed to open in Dublin next week as concern remains around the rise of Covid-19 cases in the capital.

.

It means the county has not yet moved to the significantly more restrictive "level three" of coronavirus response.

"Certainly the severe restrictions brought in to Kildare, Laois and Offaly did work".

The entire country has been placed onto level two restrictions, meaning the current restrictions will be in place for another three weeks, however further measures are being introduced in the capital.

"However, as the acting CMO has said, in Dublin we are now entering a critical phase".

"It is vital that people living in, working in and visiting Dublin limit their social interactions, maintain social distancing, wear face masks in shops and on public transport, and not gather in groups larger than outlined in the public health advice".

We are effectively in level two of restrictions now.

The Government said: "No more than two households should meet at any given time, and people should have a maximum of six visitors from one other household to their home".

For example, weddings can have 100 people in attendance under level one, but just six people in levels four and five.

Level two - where every county in the country is at now.

The aim is to keep schools, creches and businesses open in as numerous scenarios as possible, with the government hoping these rules will allow people to have a life while also saving lives.

The government is also adopting the European Commission's new traffic light system for foreign travel.
