Facebook joins Fortnite in blasting Apple's App Store 'tax'

Facebook joins Fortnite in blasting Apple's App Store 'tax'”

Apple and Google dropped the popular game Fortnite from their app stores after the game's developer introduced a direct payment plan that bypasses their platforms.

"'There is growing business pressure against Apple, she said, noting an antitrust case would be more complicated and hard to win".

While on the other side, Apple has quoted in a statement that they removed Fortnite from their app-store; because Epic has launched the payment feature with the "express intent of violating the App Store guidelines", and it was done after the app was in the app store for a decade. The companies claimed Epic violated their guidelines by announcing a way for players to buy in-game currency outside theirproprietary payment systems.

Many fans of Fornite are anxious if they can still access the game since the company has been temporaily banned from Apple's App Store and Google's Android's store.

"A Google spokesperson emphasized to The Verge that Android is an open ecosystem that allows multiple stores and that Google Play's policies need to apply equally to all developers". He also condemned the leading companies by 30% cut on in-app purchases and transactions.

Somewhat less fearless than Epic, the company joined the PR battle by adding a banner to its new Paid Online Events feature which Facebook says is created to help small business recovery.

"Apple and Google both take a 30% cut from in-app revenue purchases in games, which has always been a sore spot with developers", the AP's Mae Anderson explains. On Android, it says, "Facebook doesn't take a fee from this purchase", while on iOS, it says, "Apple takes 30% of this purchase".

In a blog post, Facebook calls out to Apple and wants the 30 percent commission rate to be reduced at least during the corona virus period. In this way, he says, it can be more useful in meeting the costs of businesses in the fight against the virus. However, Apple dismissed both requests, said Simo, and "SMBs will only be paid 70% of their hard-earned revenue".

It is stated that Facebook Pay will be used in Facebook's Android application so that business owners can receive the entire amount they earn.

While Epic has been the only one to take active action this week, Facebook joins Spotify and Match Group in now registering publicly their opposition to the Apple Tax.
