Wakanda forever: Disney mural honors ‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman

Wakanda forever: Disney mural honors ‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman”

Photos of the actor's 2018 visit to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital resurfaced after his death, as did an emotional video in which he discussed trading letters with terminally ill kids who died before getting to see Black Panther.

Almost a month after his untimely passing, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman's life and career continues to inspire other artists. To us, he was and will always be T'Challa.

On Thursday, a mural depicting Boseman, who died last month at age 43 after a battle with cancer, was revealed in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

He continued: 'To millions of kids, T'Challa was a legend larger than life, and there was no one more worthy to fill those shoes than Chadwick Boseman'. (With the theme park still closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, that opening has been delayed.) "It is a full circle moment for me", he wrote, adding: "I'm so thankful to be able to honor Chadwick's life and goal in this way". "As a former Disney Imagineer, I had the honor of working on a major children's hospital initiative and Avengers Campus as my final two assignments". As you know, Chadwick spent a lot of time visiting young cancer patients, even as he silently battled colon cancer. Boseman left an indelible mark on cinema and the film industry at large, and his cultural contributions - as well as the generosity of how much he gave to the world in the most hard of circumstances - will endure for generations to come. The magazine features personal remembrances from his screen collaborators, plus a look back at the iconic roles he portrayed over his career - from Black Panther and Thurgood Marshall to James Brown and beyond - and Empire writers revisiting their interview experiences with the man himself.

The actor is survived by his wife Taylor Simone Ledward and a parent, and had no children.
