NASA Is Sending a $23 Million Toilet to Space”

A space station cargo ship rocketed into orbit Friday carrying a 360-degree camera for spacewalking, radish seeds for growing and a smorgasbord of fancy meats and cheeses for feasting.

"It was a spectacular launch", said NASA's deputy space station program manager Kenny Todd.

The 8,000-pound (3,600-kilogram) shipment should reach the space station Monday.

The production of the equipment cost $ 23 million (around 19.5 million euros), being the first toilet to be sent to the International Space Station in several years.

Aside from the upcoming Crew-1 mission for NASA and SpaceX, the private space agency recently had to abort a new Starlink launch, just seconds before it was going to take off.

Among the delicacies requested by the astronauts: proscuitto, Genoa salami, smoked Gouda and provolone, brie, cherry tomatoes, oranges, pecans and chocolate-covered cranberries in plenty of time for Thanksgiving.

Astronauts will also get a chance to enjoy their harvest.

USA cosmetic giant Estee Lauder is all set to take one of its top products to International Space Station (ISS) with its recent tie-up with space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Its small size makes it a flawless fit for the NASA Orion capsules that will carry astronauts to the moon in a few years. It will join two of the larger Russian-made commodes already there.

As previously reported, the new toilet is designed with a tilted seat, new shape and redesigned funnels for urination to better accommodate female... Chawla was among the seven astronauts killed in the shuttle Columbia accident in 2003.

Delivery will be delayed a little. Bad weather on Wallops Island led to a two-day delay earlier in the week, then software problems thwarted the Antares Northrop Grumman missile launch at the last minute on Thursday.

According to a map provided by NASA, the rocket should be visible from Cape May in far southern New Jersey within 60 seconds after the launch time, from other parts of South Jersey from 60 seconds to 90 seconds after launch, and from central and northern New Jersey from 90 to 120 seconds after launch.
