Facebook brings Netflix, Zoom on video calling device Portal”

Portal TV, which Facebook calls "the future of video calling", is adding Netflix to a lineup of streaming services that includes Amazon Prime Video, ViacomCBS's CBS All Access and Showtime, Dish Network's Sling TV, Spotify, Pandora and iHeartRadio. Use a Portal, Portal Mini, or Portal+ device to free up your laptop to take notes or multitask. The remote begins shipping with Portal TV today from portal.facebook.com and will be in stores in the coming weeks. Facebook says Netflix will now be introduced to Portal TV in all countries where Portal is sold. Today, Facebook announced a new update which brings support for Netflix, Zoom video calls and more.

Unlike seemingly equivalent streaming devices like Google Chromecast and Amazon's Fire sticks, Portal was first launched in 2018 as a smart screen device to rival the Amazon Echo Show and Google Home Hub (now Google Nest Hub).

The main feature of Facebook's Portal is video-calling, with the ability to start or join calls of up to 50 people with the Messenger Rooms service. The device's high-fidelity sound and AI-powered Smart Camera will also help support quality experience during Zoom meetings.

According to The Verge, Facebook made the big announcement on Tuesday making the Portal platform even more of a streaming stick competitor.

Long-distance families can also stay connected through the Story Time library-a collection of tales that reflect and celebrate diversity. Users can now control the AR effects in Photo Booth using their voice too, which will save tons of time for them. Plus, AR features are being added to Dr. Seuss stories, including Hop on Pop, Mr.
