Covid can be airborne, US CDC guidelines now say”

U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention said on Monday. The onslaught of changing information continues.

The revised guideline now warns people that people who are 6 feet away from each other too are under risk of getting infected from tiny particles that linger in the air.

CDC laid it's point of emphasis earlier that close-contact transmission is more common than through air but switched to the other opinion and turned volte-faced after the latest development.

The CDC still says that SARS-COV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is most frequently spread among people in close contact with one another, through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.

CDC officials have acknowledged in interviews the growing evidence that the virus can sometimes spread on even smaller particles in a wider area.

"It's gratifying to see CDC acknowledge that there's a role for airborne transmission with this virus", said Donald Milton, an aerobiologist at the University of Maryland and coauthor of a letter published in the journal Science on Monday that calls for clearer public health guidance on how the coronavirus spreads through the air. These transmissions occurred within circumscribed spaces with inadequate ventilation. In other words, CDC views airborne transmission of COVID-19 as a possibility, but sees it as an inefficient mechanism for spread of the disease. For sick people, they are recommended to stay home and isolate, while everyone is urged to routinely clean and disinfect commonly touched areas to get rid of virus particles. Yet, in spite of CDC's continued emphasis on cleaning and disinfection measures as a preventive measure, CDC also notes that "touching surfaces is not thought to be a common way that COVID-19 spreads". It was known to have propagated largely within closed spaces with poor ventilation.

Employers should take this guidance and compare it to their current COVID-19 response plans and procedures. Meanwhile, a study conducted by the Northwestern Medicine health system on 509 COVID-19 patients in the Chicago area has concluded that almost a third of them suffered from altered mental functions, known as encephalopathy.

These were the details of the news A shocking surprise about the "Corona" virus. Further, public health directives are inevitably going to shift along with that understanding - also a social good. The warning was issued through the open letter by a group of USA scientists.

The Africa CDC, a specialized healthcare agency of African Union (AU) Commission, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the number of deaths due to illnesses related to the pandemic reached 37,098 as of Wednesday afternoon.
