Jets Release Le'Veon Bell”

After reports surfaced of Gase not wanting Bell in free agency, there were rumors that NY attempted to trade him. "The Jets organization appreciates Le'Veon's efforts during his time here and we know he worked hard to make significant contributions to this team".

So far this season, he has only tallied 74 rushing yards in just two games played.

The Jets tried to trade Bell at last year's trade deadline.

Bell on Tuesday night tweeted he's "got a lot to prove" and is "ready to go".

Bell signed a four-year, $54 million deal with the Jets in 2019 after holding out for the entirety of the 2018 season as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, in hopes of securing a long-term contract.

NY was a long-awaited fresh start for the former Michigan State standout, who sat out the entire 2018 season rather than sign the franchise tag with the Steelers.

Last season, Bell recorded career-lows in rushing yards (789), yards per carry (3.2), and rushing touchdowns (three). The Jets have never been able to get the best out of him, and Bell does not seem happy to be sidelined in the passing game like he is. Bell disputed that on Twitter while saying he needed to practice. He missed the next three games before returning for Sunday's loss to the Cardinals as the Jets fell to 0-5.
