Kiwi teen tops U.S. after Jason Derulo, BTS remix viral TikTok tune”

Anchor: South Korean K-pop sensation BTS has made history yet again by topping Billboard's main singles chart with another song.

The BTS remix of the song was released by BTS on October 2, 2020. Billboard says the song's overall activity stemmed from the BTS versions and the majority of the track's overall sales were owed to the BTS remix.

The number one spot on the US singles chart adds to the success of the original Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) track, which has had a staggering one billion combined streams worldwide, and platinum status in several countries including the US, UK, NZ, Germany, and Canada. Its English-language single "Dynamite" is continuing its winning streak for seven weeks, ranking No. 1 three times and No. 2 four times since it made a debut at No. 1 in the Hot 100 on August 31.

"Dynamite" debuted at the top of the Hot 100 and dipped to No. 2 after spending two consecutive weeks at the summit.

The Billboard singles chart is set to be refreshed Tuesday.

Billboard noted the jump of "Savage Love" from No. 8 to the top was largely helped by the release of its latest versions featuring BTS. With the two songs, BTS became the first group to have songs in the top two spots simultaneously since 2009. According to Billboard, BTS is the first group to sit at number one and two simultaneously since the Black Eyed Peas in 2009.

On Oct. 12, Billboard announced the newest Billboard Hot 100 chart that is dated for Oct. 17. The last artist to have done so was The Black Eyed Pease with "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" charting at number one and number two respectively.

"'Savage Love" remix becomes Jawsh 685's first song to reach No. 1 and second for Derulo and BTS. The song is reworked by South Korean group Jason Derulo Y BTS. "Birthday and Billboard wins, wow", one Twitter user wrote.
