Latest Space Station crew docks in record time following successful launch”

Fox News Flash top headlines are here.

The Soyuz spacecraft carrying NASA astronaut Kate Rubins and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov took off at just before 2 AM EDT, and docked with the ISS at 4:48 AM EDT - three hours and two minutes after liftoff.

Rubins and her fellow crewmembers blasted off from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 1:45 a.m. EDT.

Their journey will be the first manned flight to the ISS to last just over three hours before docking - a new fast-track profile that takes half the time of standard trips to the orbital lab. Essentially, once he begins to float, the crew will know they've reached space.

A Russian Soyuz spacecraft carrying a US astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts successfully reached the International Space Station after blasting off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, live footage broadcast by Russia's space agency Roscosmos showed.

The trio will join the station's Nasa commander, Chris Cassidy, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner, who have been aboard the complex since April and are scheduled to return to Earth a week later.

The launch is sandwiched between two SpaceX launches - the first manned spaceflights to the ISS under NASA's aegis since 2011.

A NASA TV commentator said everything was normal, citing communications between Russian mission control and the crew, while Roscosmos said the capsule had successfully gone into orbit. The astronaut also voted in space four years ago during a 115-day stint on the International Space Station.

Rubins will also be in orbit for the US election and will vote in space for the second time.
