NASA and eight partner nations sign Artemis Accords

NASA and eight partner nations sign Artemis Accords”

Nasa acting associate administrator for global and interagency relations Mike Gold said: "Fundamentally, the Artemis Accords will help to avoid conflict in space and on Earth by strengthening mutual understanding and reducing misperceptions".

The country's space agency chief, Dmitry Rogozin, said at an International Astronautical Congress virtual meeting Monday that the Artemis program is US -centric and he would prefer a model of cooperation akin to the International Space Station. NASA also plans to build a Lunar Gateway, a space station orbiting the moon.

Alongside the UK Space Agency, government bodies from seven other nations have signed accords to cooperate on the mission: the US; Japan; Australia; Canada; Italy; Luxembourg; and the United Arab Emirates.

UK Science Minister Amanda Solloway said: "The prospect of the first woman landing on the Moon in the coming years will be a source of inspiration for thousands of young people across the UK who may be considering a career in space or science".

We're going to the moon!

The planned return to the moon will mirror the Apollo missions of the 1960s and 70s, the BBC said, but unlike earlier visits, astronauts will seek to establish a permanent presence.

It promises to be the largest coalition for a human spaceflight program in history, according to Bridenstine, and is expected to pave the way for eventual Mars expeditions. The worldwide cooperation on the whole Artemis is actually intended not only to be able to bolster space exploration but should also enhance the peaceful relationships between the different nations.

Historic sites must be preserved, and any resulting space junk must be properly disposed.

The principles put forward by the Artemis Accord are mentioned below.

Rovers and other spacecraft can not have their missions jeopardized by others getting too close.

The pact, called the Artemis Accords, is intended as a framework for best practice on moon and space exploration, covering guidelines on the use of resources, making rocket fuel, safe operations and emergency assistance.

Violators could be asked to leave, according to Bridenstine. To make things short, this treaty can be called the Outer Space Treaty.

The US-led Artemis Accords are named after the Artemis program on lunar exploration that includes plans to send astronauts to the moon.
