Denver Broncos star running back Melvin Gordon charged with DUI”

He allegedly was driving 71 miles per hour in 35 a miles per hour zone, according to a police report obtained by 9News Denver. Officers said that his speech was slurred, his eyes were watery, and there was a smell of alcohol in his breath.

"We're conscious of the state of affairs involving Melvin Gordon", the Broncos mentioned in an announcement. "Our organization has been in communication with him and is in the process of gathering more details", the team said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to police records reviewed by Mike Klis of 9 News, Gordon was cited by the Denver Police Department late Tuesday night for driving under the influence and speeding.

Gordon is set to be arraigned on Friday, Nov. 13.

Denver's scheduled Week 5 game against the New England Patriots was postponed to next week, and Gordon did not seem thrilled about that.

Not only is Gordon the full-time starting running back for the Broncos, but he also played his best game as a Bronco in their recent matchup against the New York Jets back on Thursday, October 1st.

The Broncos resume practice on Wednesday for their game this weekend.

Gordon could face discipline from the National Football League, including a suspension. Since joining Denver in the recent offseason, the 27-year-old has already made his presence felt, leading the team this season with 65 carries, 281 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
