The individual was reported after a China Airlines crew spotted the person at around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, reportedly flying around seven miles northeast of LAX at about a 6,000-foot altitude.

And JetPack Aviation, based in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, invented what it calls "the world's only JetPack", which can reach up to 15,000 feet in altitude and operate for about 10 minutes.

Wednesday's sighting marks the second time pilots have reported seeing someone flying in a jetpack in the LAX approach pattern in a little over a month.

In another recording obtained by CNN, a pilot from Jet Blue Airways told the control tower, "We just saw the guy pass us by in the jet pack".

According to the communications, air traffic control warned a JetBlue flight to "use caution... person on a jet pack reported 300 yards south."After the plane acknowledged the instruction, the controller concluded with: "Only in LA".

Federal officials are looking into the second sighting in only six weeks! That company, JetPack Aviation Corp, is located in Van Nuys-but the brand's CEO told the Times that he doesn't think the sightings are coming from his team.

The latest encounter was reported to have occurred at an altitude of 6,000 feet - almost six times the height of the Wilshire Grand Tower, the tallest building not only in Los Angeles but west of the Mississippi.

'Only in LA, ' the air traffic controller said. No parachutes were sighted in the two incidents in Los Angeles.

CBS News correspondent Kris Van Cleave reports the Federal Bureau of Investigation and FAA are investigating those incidents.
