POTUS speaks about son's condition after coronavirus bombshell”

Barron Trump, the 14-year-old son of President Trump and Melania Trump, tested positive for COVID-19, after initially testing negative.

The first lady, in statement Issued by the White House, after she and the President, Donald Trump, were infected, she thought to her daughter Barron, "It is to our great satisfaction that his result was negative (...) but what about tomorrow or the next day?"

"My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive", the first lady wrote. She also said her son had "no symptoms", and has since tested negative. "In a way, I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of each other and spend time together", she wrote on the website.

Melania said that she has tested negative for the virus and will resume her official duties as First Lady soon.

"I experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely exhausted most of the time", she said.

Trump said she "chose a more natural route", relying on "vitamins and healthy food", deciding against the treatment President Trump had.

While Melania and apparently Barron quarantined at the White House, Trump spent three nights at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in an "abundance of caution".

The couple have now tested negative.

During a rally in Des Moines, Iowa, President Trump said: "He [Barron] had it for such a short period of time".

While her diagnosis came with minimal symptoms, Melania said that they seemed to have hit her all at once in the days that followed.

"Barron is just fine", Trump added, using his son's quick recovery as part of his pitch to reopen schools. The White House has a teenager as a resident once again. It was me being taken care of now, and getting first-hand experience with all that COVID-19 can do.

The announcement comes almost 2 weeks after President Trump and the first lady tested positive. The disease has killed more than 216,000 people in the US and caused almost 7.9 million infections here, according to the latest count from Johns Hopkins University.

"It also cheered me to think of all the people I have met across our country and the world - and the goodness and compassion that exists if you seek it out".
