State College Mom Appears On ABC's Joe Biden Town Hall

State College Mom Appears On ABC's Joe Biden Town Hall”

'Well, could say I'm a lousy candidate and I didn't do a job, ' Biden said when asked how he would interpret a loss.

Donald Trump refused to denounce the conspiracy theory QAnon and its followers at Thursday night's Town Hall in Miami amid an impressive grilling by Savannah Guthrie.

The curious comment came in the context of a blockbuster New York Times report that was based on years of Trump tax returns it had obtained which revealed that President Trump has debts of approximately $421 million that he has personally guaranteed and will come due in the next four years. Trump said he didn't know anything about them. Biden agreed to the ABC town hall after Trump withdrew from the second debate and had also refused to participate in a virtual debate. "I'll put it out there, people can decide for themselves", Trump said.

"You're the president; you're not someone's insane uncle where you just retweet whatever".

Trump, who spent three days in a military hospital but has since returned to the campaign trail, is trying to alter the dynamics of the race.

The two simultaneous town halls have exposed stark differences between the media's treatment of each of the presidential contenders, according to Dr Harvey Schantz, professor of political science at the State University of NY at Plattsburgh.

Guthrie pressed Trump bringing up the fact that he retweeted a baseless QAnon conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama had Navy SEALs killed over some unusual plot involving an Osama bin Laden body double. He said, "I'm still not a fan" of expanding the court, but that his ultimate decision depended on how the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court "is handled" and "how much they rush this".

"That was an opinion of somebody, and that was a retweet".

"I know very little".

However, what struck Schantz is that at no point did ABC's George Stephanopoulos bring up the controversial financial dealings of Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, which have popped up in the press and on social media following a recent exposé by the New York Post. He said the network went easy on Biden a week earlier by asking him "questions a child could answer".

Has Town Hall Changed the Balance of Power?

The Trump town hall "highlights" getting replayed are all lowlights for him.

ABC scheduled its event last week; NBC announced its own town hall on Wednesday. "President Trump delivered his best performance ever - the quintessential happy warrior - against a combative Savannah Guthrie moderating".

"I will flat-out just change the law and eliminate those executive orders [that threatened LGBTQ rights]", Biden said.
