Top US journalist suspended after he admits to lie about hack”

Scully issued his first statement addressing the controversy following his suspension.

"For several weeks, I was subjected to relentless criticism on social media and in conservative news outlets regarding my role as moderator for the second presidential debate, including attacks aimed directly at my family", said Scully in a statement.

But his case was not helped by the tweet to Scaramucci.

'I apologize for some earlier TWEETS.account was hacked.those tweets did not come from me.

"These were both errors in judgment for which I am totally responsible".

The president reacted to the news about Scully enthusiastically. "This culminated on Thursday, October eighth after I heard President Trump go on nationwide tv twice and falsely assault me by identify", in his assertion".

"Steve Scully just admitted he was lying about his Twitter being hacked".

President Trump used the development as an opportunity to attack the debate commission on Thursday, claiming on Twitter "the Debate was Rigged!" and "the Trump Campaign was not treated fairly by the "Commission".

The tweet - evidently meant to be a private message - was sent after the president called the C-SPAN editor a "never Trumper", on account of his past work in Joe Biden's Senate office. The Commission on Presidential Debates also sided with Scully. Did I show good instincts in being the first to know?' the president wrote.

"During his 30 years at C-SPAN, Steve consistently demonstrated his fairness and professionalism as a journalist ..."

Scully, a veteran of Washington information circles, has been at C-SPAN for 3 a long time.

"He understands that he made a mistake", the network said of Mr. Scully. Twitter and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were brought in to investigate.

A spokesperson for Twitter previously told Fox News "We've no comment" when asked to confirm whether or not Scully's account was hacked.

On Friday, Scully tweeted he had been hacked. The debate was canceled last week after Mr. Trump had tested positive for the coronavirus and refused to agree to a virtual debate.

Instead of the debate, Trump will appear at an NBC News town hall in Miami at 8:00 p.m. Biden will participate in an ABC News town hall in Philadelphia at the same time.

He subsequently deleted the post and conveyed to Mediaite, among others, that he intended not to send it as a personal message to Scaramucci, but that he had been hacked.

'Out of frustration, I sent a brief tweet addressed to Anthony Scaramucci, ' Scully said in a statement given to by C-SPAN.

'Ignore. He is having a hard enough time, ' the former White House communications director said of Trump. "Some more bad stuff about to go down". "It's insignificant. He is an objective journalist".

Scaramucci called Scully's suspension a "brutal outcome for a silly non political tweet" and argued that Scully is a victim of "cancel culture". And then, at that point, he turned to Scaramucci for advice, Scully now admits. Biden and served as a staffer for the late Sen.
