SpaceX launch delay: When will next batch of Starlink satellites launch?

Each satellite weighs about 260 kilograms and features a compact, flat-panel design that minimizes volume, allowing for a dense launch stack to take full advantage of the launch capabilities of the Falcon 9 carrier rocket, according to SpaceX.

Elon Musk's SpaceX operation will launch 600 more satellites into space tomorrow as part of the Sterlink mission - bringing broadband to the world.

Just hours ago the latest batch of Starlink satellites were launched for internet broadcasting and SpaceX revealed key details about the capabilities of the planned constellation, stating that the satellites have shown super low latency and download speeds in excess of 100Mbps.

SpaceX's first-stage booster returned to Earth roughly 9 minutes after launch and landed on one of SpaceX's drone ships floating on the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Starlink is SpaceX's ambitious plan to launch almost 12,000 satellites into low orbits around the Earth in order to provide broadband internet coverage to the Earth's surface.

In a video of the launch, SpaceX engineer Kate Tice said employees have been testing out the service, and found the latency rates are "low enough to play the fastest online video games". "Initial results have been good", she said.

SpaceX is now in the process of deploying a whole constellation of 12,000 of the internet-beaming Starlink satellites. US users based in rural areas or small towns often only have access to download speeds below 5Mbps.

To boost data speeds even more, Tice said the company has been testing out a new technology for inter-satellite communication, dubbed "space lasers". However, the company has plans to launch as many as 40,000 satellites into space to pave the way for fast internet speeds across the globe.

These are hoped to make them far less reflective, but at a recent satellite conference, only one suggestion was made to eliminate the impacts entirely: launch fewer or no low Earth orbit satellites.

Today the rocket has 60 satellites and has already added more than 700 satellites. Of those launches, 10 were for its own Starlink constellation.
