Christie says he was wrong not to wear mask in White House”

US President Donald Trump at an NBC News Town Hall at Perez Art Museum in Miami on October 15.

President Donald Trump has previously told Fox News that "someone entered the White House with infection".

Former Governor Chris Christie is now taking self-criticism after hugging a female party without a bandage in Rosehagen outside the White House.

"These remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir, and interferon regimens appeared to have little or no effect on hospitalized COVID-19, as indicated by overall mortality, initiation of ventilation and duration of hospital stay", the report which has not been peer-reviewed found.

Christie, who was at the White House for the announcement of Judge Amy Coney Barrett as the president's nominee to the Supreme Court and to a participate in several rounds of Trump's debate prep, seemingly chided the president's attitude toward the disease. "I hope that my experience shows my fellow citizens that you should follow C.D.C. guidelines in public no matter where you are and wear a mask to protect yourself and others".

By contrast, Mr Trump left hospital after three nights of treatment for Covid-19, urging Americans not to let the virus "dominate" them.

Christie spent seven days in the ICU at Morristown Medical Center while receiving treatment for the virus.

He said he ended up spending seven days in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Wrong of me not to wear a face mask

Mr Christie said his stint in "isolation" gave him time to do some thinking about the coronavirus pandemic. "It is something to take very seriously".

"The ramifications are wildly random and potentially deadly", Christie said in a statement.

"All of sudden I got fever and chills and body aches", Christie said.

Chris Christie was just one of many people in the Trump orbit who tested positive for COVID19, but his comorbidities and pre-existing conditions made his case a lot worse than some others who have contracted the virus.

He was also part of President Trump's debate prep for Mr. Trump's September 29 bout with Democratic nominee Joseph R. Biden. Now he says he should have taken better care.

- I thought I was entering a safe zone when I entered the White House area, due to the testing I and others conducted every day. "Leaders all throughout politics, sports activities, the media, needs to be saying to folks, put your masks on, be secure till we get a vaccine that may assist to guard us utterly from this virus".

Noting that the United States "may seem very divided today", Christie ended his statement Thursday with a call to action - urging people to follow best public health practices while reopening as many businesses as possible.
