Republican senator mocked Harris’s name at election rally”

Republican U.S. Senator David Perdue appeared to mock Kamala Harris at a rally for President Donald Trump in the battleground state of Georgia on Friday, repeatedly mispronouncing the vice presidential nominee's name.

Ossoff, who staged an unsuccessful bid for Congress in a 2017 special election, also tweeted a fundraising message over video of Perdue's comments and said in another tweet, "Senator Perdue never would have done this to a male colleague".

"Kamala? Kamala? Kamala-mala-mala? I don't know".

"Well, that is incredibly racist", tweeted Sabrina Singh, Harris' press secretary. "You just lost millions of customers due to racist rants by your boy David Purdue!" one Twitter user wrote. "He was making an argument against the radical socialist agenda that she and her endorsed candidate Jon Ossoff are pushing, which includes the Green New Deal", Burke tweeted.

Perdue, who is in a closely fought battle for re-election to the senate against Democrat Jon Ossoff, spoke ahead of Trump in the central Georgia city of Macon on Friday evening.

"My opponent, GOP Sen". "I can assure you that David Perdue has no affiliation with the Perdue brand", the company said https://twitter.com/PerdueChicken/status/1317451191102701569 on Twitter. Harris" name as "Kamala-mala-mala-whatever' at a Trump rally.

Spokesperson of Perdue said the Senator mispronounced the name and he did not mean anything by it. "And everyone knows it".

The Perdue campaign said in a statement provided to Mediaite, "Senator Perdue simply mispronounced Senator Harris' name, and he didn't mean anything by it". "Every Georgia Republican has to answer for this".

This isn't the first time Perdue has resorted to personal attacks during the campaign. He says his name should be announced "Kame-la". "To mock his colleague's name in that way, to show such disrespect for the Indian-American community here in Georgia, for Black women, to show such open bigotry, but that is who Sen".

Perdue referred to Harris as "KAH'-mah-lah?"

In 2019 memoir The Truths We Hold, Harris clarified the meaning and pronunciation of her name. "Her first name is pronounced "KAH'-mah-lah" - or, as she explains in her biography, "'comma-la, ' like the punctuation mark". "A lotus grows underwater, its flower rising above the surface while its roots are planted firmly in the river bottom".
