Sunil Narine`s bowling action gets green signal, taken off IPL warning list

Sunil Narine`s bowling action gets green signal, taken off IPL warning list”

The timing of the announcement means he could likely be in contention for the side's clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday afternoon.

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Sunil Narine in action. In what seemed like a precautionary move, the franchise rested Narine, who is understood to have worked with his personal spin coach Carl Crowe in rectifying his action for the type of delivery that was reported.

KKR, the two-time IPL winners, had requested for an official assessment of Narine's bowling action following the development. Since then, KKR haven't played Narine in any of their matches. "Mr Narine has now been removed from the IPL Suspect Action Warning List", the statement said. He has been placed on the warning list and will be suspended from bowling in the Indian Premier League 2020 if reported again. KKR had also said that they "are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter".

Narine was reported by the on-field umpires Ulhas Gandhe and Chris Gaffaney, with the suspect action occurring during the last over of the match, bowled by Narine, when Kings XI needed 14 runs for victory.

The KKR team management had also requested the IPL suspect action committee for an official assessment of Narine's action. The committee, having studied footage of his bowling, concluded that the elbow bend was "within the range of permissible limits".

However, the 32-year-old will have to replicate his action as in the footage that was produced before the committee for a review.

This is not the first time the West Indian bowler has been reported for suspect bowling action. In 2015, Narine served suspension from bowling in worldwide cricket after his motion was declared unlawful by the ICC.

In 2015, Narine served suspension from bowling in global cricket after his action was declared illegal by the ICC. But has faced problems with the action and was once again reported in 2018 before last week's warning.
