Rory McIlroy finds form with fine 66 in Las Vegas”

RORY MCILROY REDISCOVERED his form this evening in Las Vegas, where he shot eight birdies to post a six under par total of 66 for his third round at the US PGA Tour's CJ Cup.

Heading into the weekend four strokes back, Henley followed a 10-foot par-save at the third by holing from a similar distance to birdie the next, before getting up and down from a greenside bunker to birdie the par-five seventh.

The victor in late August at Ozarks National in Missouri in his first start on the tour, Mickelson joined Bruce Fleischer and Jim Furyk as the only players to win in their first two senior events. I let that first win come to me.

From the 10th, Schauffele played his nine outward in dazzling 29 strokes, only parried the 1st and 3rd holes and screwed the rest, triggering a breathtaking series of six in a series of 4: 9. "I made a nice par save on the third hole, just kept staying patient and made a lot of nice putts". "I've played this golf course enough that I should know it by now". Yesterday was a little better and then today again I hit the ball pretty good, especially off the tee again.

Henley carded a bogey-free five-under-par 67 to move top of the leaderboard through 54 holes in Nevada on Saturday. It's at Shadow Creek this year only because of the COVID-19 pandemic and travel issues.

"I got off to a hot start and kind of slowed down".

Defending champion and two-time victor Justin Thomas is five strokes off the pace after rising two positions on the back of his four-under-par 68.

Schauffele takes the lead with the birdie series in Las Vegas

The 31-year-old, who finished tied at 27 in last week's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, had three consecutive birdies on the back nine and said he hoped to keep the momentum up in the final round. He erased a three-shot deficit with birdies on three of the first six holes while Weir made a string of pars, but it was on the back nine that he was really tested, and delighted with his response. He is in the field for the Zozo Championship next week in California.

Defending champion Justin Thomas, who won the event a year ago on Jeju Island, shot a 66 and was tied for eighth with four others at six-under 138.

Weir three-putted the par-5 18th, but still hung on to beat Paul Goydos (65) by a shot.

Robert Karlsson, another rookie on the tour, closed with a 64 including an albatross 2 on the final hole.

Prominent among other British players were Ian Poulter, who shot 73 to be four-under and 11 off the lead, and Justin Rose, whose 68 had him at two-under.

Schauffele answered with three straight birdies, the last one a 45-footer that made it feel as though he was going to claim another PGA Tour victory by coming from behind. That capped a run of three birdies, which he also had at Nos.

That proved to the deciding shot as Schauffele couldn't catch up and closed with a 66.
