Liverpool’s Salah tests positive for coronavirus, says Egyptian FA”

They added that the other members of the Egyptian national team had tested negative.

Liverpool have been dealt another blow following the news that Mohamed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus whilst on global duty with Egypt.

"Also Salah was extremely cautious during the one-hour wedding, he never took his mask off except for taking photographs".

"Egyptian national team and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has undergone a second test, and results have confirmed that Salah tested positive for COVID-19", a statement released by the EFA said.

But the loss of Salah, who is joint leading scorer in the league this season with eight goals, eats further into Liverpool's squad depth that is being tested to the limit.

"Salah is fine now, he does not show any symptoms, I talked to his father and uncle".

Egypt will take on Togo on Saturday, followed by the reverse fixture in Togo on Tuesday.

Salah was observing medical protocols agreed in consultations between doctors in Egypt and Liverpool, a coronavirus hotspot, and self isolating in a Cairo hotel room.

"I met with Salah once at the start of the camp and another time during the event".

The Egypt worldwide becomes the latest Liverpool player to contract Covid-19 this season, following teammates Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri and Thiago Alcantara over the last six weeks.

Salah's test result is the latest Covid drama to hit football after he flagged Premier League stars Alan Brown of the Republic of Ireland - who played 90 minutes at Wembley on Thursday evening - tested positive for the virus after the match.

The news is a fresh blow for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who has already lost central defender Joe Gomez during this worldwide break.

The news will be another blow to the Reds Club coach, who also witnessed Joe Gomez sustain a major injury during this worldwide hiatus.

Virgil van Dijk, Dutch defender Talismani, is still out of fitness months after he injured his ACL in a controversial clash with England's 1st seed Jordan Beckford.
