Sheridan County has experienced nine deaths related to the virus.

As the new Safer at Home Level Orange orders go into effect Wednesday, Moffat County Public Health is reporting 40 new cases of COVID-19 in the county since Friday, Nov. 13.

The health district and state have a goal of 25 new cases per 100,000 residents over the previous two weeks.

The county has averaged about 61 new cases per day over the last 14 days, according to a 14-day moving average graph updated weekdays by the health department.

Maricopa County, which encompasses the city of Phoenix, has reported the most COVID-19 cases of any county in the state.

However, 10.7% of the county having coronavirus antibodies is not a high enough threshold to offer what's known as herd immunity, which is when the virus can't find new people to infect because enough people are immune to it.

"We expect a vaccine to be available in the next few months, which could help prevent countless cases of COVID-19 and even death", said Dr. Janice K. Smith, a Bell County Local Health Authority.
