`Life is short`: Jetman Vince Reffet dies in a training exercise”

"We are working closely with all relevant authorities", Binhabtoor said.

In February, Reffet, whose stunts using the jetpack have gone viral on social media, was the first pilot to demonstrate the transition to high-altitude flight.

But the general public in Dubai came to know Reffet as part of Jetman Dubai.

Vincent Reffet and former Swiss pilot Yves Rossy prepare for a flight in 2015.

Jetman Dubai wrote in a post to Instagram: 'It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the passing of Jetman Pilot, Vincent (Vince) Reffet, who died this morning, 17 November during training in Dubai. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who knew and worked with him'.

"Vince was a talented athlete, and a much-loved and respected member of our team", the statement reads.

"You have so many dreams and life is so short", he added.

Wearing a carbon fibre wing powered by four mini jet engines, Mr Reffet, 36, flew to 5,900ft this year.
