What Dolly Parton Has to Say About Her Covid-19 Research Donation

What Dolly Parton Has to Say About Her Covid-19 Research Donation”

Like a story out of a Christmas feel-good movie Dolly Parton has come to save the day.

What has also been gaining steam on Twitter is linguist Gretchen McCulloch's rendition of Parton's hit song "Jolene," which she changed to center on the coronavirus vaccine, instead of a person imploring another woman not to steal her lover. Since then, it's raised more than $100,000 of its $250,000 goal.

The icon made headlines in April with the major donation to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in honor of her friend, Dr. Naji Abumrad, to support research teams working on coronavirus cures.

Dolly donated $1 million dollars to the Vanderbilt University Medical Centre near the start of the pandemic and her donation has helped fund the Moderna vaccine.

"Her gift provided support for a pilot convalescent plasma study that one of our researchers was able to successfully complete", Howser told BBC News.

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the donation made by Parton and the work done by researchers at Vanderbilt during trial phases directly led to Moderna announcing it had produced a coronavirus vaccine that is almost 95% effective. "I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt toward that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations". "Keep the faith, Dolly".

"What does Dolly Parton do when she's not delivering more than 100 million books to kids who need them?" asked Washington Post's Cathleen Decker.

"I felt like this was the time for me to open my heart and my hand, and try to help". The Moderna vaccine will require two injections four weeks apart.

These doses took place four weeks apart, and the analysis was based on the first 95 tested to develop COVID-19 symptoms.

Their friendship was not anything that would make headlines around the world, until biotechnology firm Moderna announced on Monday that "a preliminary analysis shows its experimental coronavirus vaccine is almost 95% effective at preventing illness, including severe cases".
