Clippers keep Marcus Morris with 4-year deal

Clippers keep Marcus Morris with 4-year deal”

Despite some brief rumors about his possible departure, Marcus Morris has agreed to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers.

This is a key development for the Clippers, and for L.A. fans, a welcome bit of good news after learning about reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell opting to take his talents across town to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Morris appeared to confirm the news with his own tweet.

He averaged 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in 27.8 minutes a game and shot 58.0 percent from the field.

Morris then hit the free market as an always-valuable 3-and-D player.

The Lakers hadn't been connected to any Clippers free agents prior to Harrell's reported signing, but indications were Rajon Rondo was considering a move down the hall at Staples Center.

Harrell, a client of Rich Paul's Klutch Sports (which also represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis), reportedly agreed to a two-year deal worth $19 million with the 2019-20 National Basketball Association champs, turning down an offer from the Hornets for more money in the process.

The Clippers will now likely head into next season with their same starting lineup of Patrick Beverley, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Morris and Ivica Zubac.

The team has also traded for Detroit Pistons guard Luke Kennard in exchange for Landry Shamet.

Marcus Morris is still a Clipper.
