LA County Under Mandatory Overnight Curfew Starting Saturday Night

LA County Under Mandatory Overnight Curfew Starting Saturday Night”

"The virus is spreading at a pace we haven't seen since the start of this pandemic and the next several days and weeks will be critical to stop the surge". It is unclear if the state's new overnight curfew order will affect these LA County restrictions going into effect.

California has now recorded four consecutive days with at least 10,600 newly confirmed coronavirus cases, a stretch unlike any in the pandemic.

While many residents worry about the severity of the order, the states Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. Mark Ghaly, has said the measures could be worse. For the two-week period that ended Thursday, average daily cases over a seven-day period have jumped by 102%, from more than 1,600 cases a day to almost 3,300 cases a day.

Hollywood - 30 new cases for a total of 1,683 cases. The weekly average of daily COVID-19 cases was 1,171 on November 1, and by November 14, it had more than doubled to 2,406, according to county data.

"Maybe you're a worker who's out at night with a group of friends, outdoors even, and you contract COVID and then you go the next day to work and it is passed on, maybe not the next day but a day or two later, to a vulnerable resident in a congregate care facility", he said. Masks must be worn by individuals whenever they leave their homes. It's part of an attempt to slow the risky spread of COVID-19.

On Thursday, Governor Gavin Newsom announced in a Tweet that California issuing a limited Stay at Home Order due to the rising cases of COVID-19.

On Monday, the state pulled the emergency brake on the Blueprint for a Safer Economy by putting more than 94 percent of California's population in the most restrictive purple/widespread tier, including Tuolumne County, as reported here.

SACRAMENTO - In light of an unprecedented, rapid rise in COVID-19 cases across California, Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced a limited Stay at Home Order requiring generally that non-essential work, movement and gatherings stop between 10 PM and 5 AM in counties in the purple tier.

During Thursday's GOP House briefing, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Newsom lost his credibility with Californians after he violated his own COVID-19 restrictions.

The order will last one month, until December 21, but could be extended if infection rates and disease trends don't improve. The curfew hours run 10 5 a.m., but exempts essential workers.

Should the county's case counts or hospitalization numbers climb too high, officials have warned they may impose additional business restrictions - or even issue a new local stay-at-home order. "We may need to take more stringent actions if we are unable to flatten the curve quickly".
