Just One-Quarter of Distributed COVID Vaccines Have Been Given”

Mexican authorities said they are studying the case of a 32-year-old female doctor who was hospitalised after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

Umesh Shaligram, Director (R&D) at Serum Institute of India that is manufacturing the Oxford vaccine said, "As of today, we have 75 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine".

"People should not be afraid to take it", the governor said in a release.

Only a quarter of the doses of COVID-19 vaccines distributed nationwide have been administered so far, an even smaller fraction of the 20 million vaccinations promised by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar after the medications were approved, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and a tally of the information.

The governor also inspected the cold chain system, vaccination rooms and the vaccination process at the UHC. "The World Health Organization (WHO) is expected to grant approval for the vaccine very soon", Zahid Maleque said.

Later, in a tweet, Soundararajan, a medical doctor said, "Appreciate arrangements of state and central governments to vaccinate eligible beneficiaries". He also said that financial resources are not a constraint to vaccinate people.

As part of the first phase of vaccination, around five lakh people would be administered the vaccine.

Among other details, the senior official said that the Union government is now looking at vaccination effort as a holistic public health response and has chosen higher risk groups since the Centre wants to minimise COVID-related deaths.

"Therefore, there were differences between the comprehensive multi-country data we reviewed and the protection rate data previously evaluated by the UAE and Bahrain", Global Times quoted Yang as saying in a report published on Thursday.

Meanwhile, state Health Minister Eatala Rajender said the dry run was being held at four centres in Hyderabad and three centres at Mahabubnagar.

The vaccine shots would be provided initially to the healthcare personnel, he added.

Romney then outlined a plan, saying the government could enlist all medical professionals who are not now delivering COVID-19 care, including veterinarians, combat medics, medical students, and others, who can be trained to administer vaccines.
