Harrison ousts top seed Garin”

Karlović, who will turn 42 next month, became the oldest player to win an ATP Tour match since Jimmy Connors (42) in 1995 when he beat No. 7 seed Pablo Andujar of Spain 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the first round of the Delray Beach Open.

Harrison regrouped against Mager after losing serve in the first game, when he double-faulted twice.

No. 2-seeded John Isner of the United States hit 22 aces, never faced a break point and beat Thiago Monteiro of Brazil, 6-4, 7-6 (4). "He's won four matches this week" including qualifying, Garin said of his opponent.

Harrison, the 26-year-old brother of tour veteran Ryan Harrison, has been plagued by injuries during his career.

"I just love the sport, I love what I'm doing", Harrison told reporters.

"I just stuck with it, I got a little bit more aggressive", said the 20-year-old, who will play Britain's Cameron Norrie for a place in the final.

Garin, who had a first-round bye, came into his first match of 2021 ranked a career-best No. 18.

"It feels pretty fantastic", Harrison said.

"He played well", Garin said.

"The way he played those, I was like, 'Too good.' I couldn't really do anything". Karlovic surpassed his own record then as he was the last player over the age of 40 to win a match at a Grand Slam when he beat Thomas Fabbiano in the first round at Wimbledon previous year.

Christian Harrison's fairytale run continued with a 7-6 (7/2), 6-4 semi-final victory over Italian Gianluca Mager.
