NYC to terminate Trump contracts after Capitol insurrection

NYC to terminate Trump contracts after Capitol insurrection”

Five people died as a result of the incident. The New York Times reports de Blasio has considered such cancelations before, but he didn't have the legal footing.

The contracts are for two ice-skating rinks at Central Park, the Central Park Carousel and the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, a city-owned golf course in the Bronx.

"Our legal team has done the assessment".

'Inciting an insurrection, let's be clear I am going to say those words again, inciting an insurrection against the United States Government clearly constitutes criminal activity, ' he said.

An email seeking comment was sent Wednesday to the Trump Organization.

When Trump was running for the presidency, and later when he was pushing a plan to rebuild the nation's infrastructure, he touted his success in taking over the management of Wollman Rink as an example of his business acumen.

Amid accusations that Trump allegedly incited the Capitol mob on 6 January, the PGA voted to strip its namesake championship from Trump's Bedminister golf course in New Jersey, next year.

The split with Trump's namesake company won't happen immediately, though. The news service said Eric Trump had expressed no concerns about the company's financial future. Contracts for the Wollman and Lasker ice skating rinks will terminate 30 days after delivery of written notice. Termination of the contract to run the carousel, which is now closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, will take effect 25 days after written notice.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted: "New York City doesn't do business with insurrectionists". He will still operate Trump Tower on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue and the Trump International Hotel on Central Park West. Trump moved his official residence from Trump Tower to Florida in 2019.
