Drake delays release of 'Certified Lover Boy' album”

However, Drake is hopeful that the album will still be out this year.

Over the weekend, Drake made history as the first artist to surpass 50 billion streams on Spotify, a testament to the vast scope of his popularity.

The 34-year-old Grammy-winner also shared how the measures put in place to slow the spread of coronavirus had allowed him to spend more time working on the LP.

The four-time Grammy victor beat his fellow chart-topping musicians such as Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Post Malone as Spotify's most-streamed artist of the decade.

"50 billion streams SHEESH congrats to THE BOY", tweets Future, adding an Owl emoji to more effectively represent Drizzy's OVO movement.

Suffice it to say that his 2018 single "God's Plan" alone reached the beauty of 1.67 billion plays on the famous platform.

Drake's new album Certified Lover Boy is not coming this month. He is the first artist in history to hit this milestone.

Drake posted this message on his Instagram account.

Aside from his achievements, Drake is now continuing to make music with fellow rapper Meek Mill.

He said: "I'm working on the album".

While there's still no official release date for Certified Lover Boy, Drake did announce that it will drop some time in January. I've been working on it for a while now.
