Twitter permanently suspends Trump's account

Twitter permanently suspends Trump's account”

Five people were killed in the melee, including a police officer.

The move comes after Facebook yesterday initially said it would freeze Trump's access to its services for a 24-hour period, following the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump rioters who were egged on by the lame-duck president.

In announcing the suspension last week, Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg said Trump used the platform to incite violence and was concerned he would continue to do so. Trump ends his speech that the USA is the honor of my lifetime.

To top it all off, Twitter ended a almost 12-year run and shuttered his account, severing an instant line of communication to his 89 million followers. The companies say Parler's managers have consistently failed to halt threats of violence and calls for armed insurrection on the site.

But with mounting calls for the immediate removal from office, Mark Zuckerberg has made a decision to go stage further and has banned Donald Trump "indefinitely" from his platforms. YouTube took down Trump's post-riot video to supporters, and Snapchat issued an indefinite ban, McClatchy News reported. "Those policies apply to everyone, and we'll take that stuff down as soon as we can find it".

Twitter on Friday shut down Trump's account to prevent another attack on the Capitol building.

Noting that they began preparing for inauguration day a year ago, the two said their planning took on new urgency after last week's violence and they are treating the next two weeks as a major civic event.

"Our policies are applied to everyone", Sandberg said, noting that the platform has removed posts by the president's son and "other world leaders".

The online restrictions placed on President Trump and content regarding him and allegations of the 2020 election results being fraudulent have far exceeded just Twitter and Facebook. "Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete".

"We have a constitutional responsibility to serve as a check and balance on an out-of-control executive branch", Jeffries said.
