Lions agree to terms with Saints’ Dan Campbell to be coach”

The Detroit Lions are hiring New Orleans Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn as their defensive coordinator, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. He had 91 career receptions for 934 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Giants, Dallas, Detroit and New Orleans.

Dan Campbell just had the best introductory news conference EVER. the new Detroit Lions head coach delivered an epic speech - promising his team will bite off knee caps!

He also said the team is going to take on the identity of the city it represents.

"When you come in here, you're going to get beat up", Campbell said.

He was 5-7 as interim coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2015. "When we began the search for a head coach, it was imperative that we find the right leader who values our commitment to building a winning culture based on organizational alignment and collaboration". We're going to kick you in the teeth, and when you punch us back, we're going to smile at you.

Campbell, 44, is the latest coach to try to change the conversation about the team.

Campbell said he also made a list of things he could have done better. The former National Football League tight end said he can't guarantee wins, but he can promise his players are going to "bite a kneecap off" after they get knocked down.

Campbell began his playing career with the Giants in 1999, lasting four seasons before leaving NY after the 2002 campaign. All right? And on the way up, we're going to take your other kneecap. And then every once in a while, you go into recruiting mode. And when we do, we're going to take another hunk out of you.

In Detroit, Campbell fills the hole created by Matt Patricia, who the Lions fired in November after going 13-29-1 in two-plus seasons on the sideline. The Lions had been searching for people they considered unifiers as they identified qualities they deemed important to building a victor out of a franchise that has one playoff win in the Super Bowl era and claimed its last division title in 1993.
