SpaceX violated FAA launch licence in December test, report says”

In a freakish series of events, SpaceX and CEO Elon Musk spent the day visibly clashing with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) over Starship launch licensing delays. Musk nevertheless hailed the test a success, interjecting with "Mars, here we come!" on Twitter.

The FAA, however, was not impressed, insist insiders.

As you know, Elon Musk's biggest dream and naturally his company SpaceX's biggest mission is to finally take humanity to Mars one day. An FAA spokesman also failed to specify the nature of the alleged rule breaking when approached by the media. The FAA has yet again delayed SpaceX from continuing the launch, without any explanations and only saying that they have been in talks with the company. "While we recognize the importance of moving quickly to foster growth and innovation in commercial space, the FAA will not compromise its responsibility to protect public safety".

"We will approve the modification only after we are satisfied that SpaceX has taken the necessary steps to comply with regulatory requirements", it said in a statement.

However, the license violation issue has escalated tensions between FAA and SpaceX.

Regardless, SpaceX will need approval from the FAA before sending SN9 into the sky, but the firm announced it is eyeing Monday for another attempt. This week the agency was still reviewing the terms of the license following a bunch of changes made by SpaceX, sources claim. In 2018, when he was fined $20 million by the Securities and Exchange Commission for allegedly misleading Tesla investors via Twitter, Musk told 60 Minutes, "I do not respect the SEC". The SpaceX founder recently accused the FAA of having a "fundamentally broken" approach to regulating spaceflight that was meant for a small number of non-reusable launches from government pads.

Musk, a devoted Mars enthusiast, has always been a loud critic of government regulations towards private launches, which he sees as outdated.

SpaceX fans in the U.S. and around the globe tuned in to see the firm launch its Starship Serial Number 9 (SN9) prototype for its first test flight Thursday, but the all that was seen was the massive rocket standing completely still on the launch pad.
