Prince Harry wins damages over military snub newspaper story

Prince Harry wins damages over military snub newspaper story”

An article on 25 October 2020 reported that Prince Harry had been accused by a top general of turning his back on the Royal Marines since withdrawing from his military roles in March and that, in an apparent snub to the Armed Forces, he had failed to reply to a letter from Lord Dannatt, a former Chief of the General Staff.

Ever since the Duchess of Sussex got engaged to Prince Harry, she found herself embroiled in controversies and negative headlines from the British press.

After today's hearing, Harry now considers the matter closed but the amount of the damages has not been disclosed.

"All these allegations are false as the Mail on Sunday and the MailOnline have now accepted, albeit after considerable damage was already done", Afia said on Monday.

But Harry's lawyers said in court documents that The Mail On Sunday and MailOnline "disregarded the claimant's reputation in its eagerness to publish a barely researched and one-sided article in pursuit of the imperative to sell newspapers and attract readers to its website".

He wanted his lawyer to read a statement in court to affirm that Prince Harry's "commitment to the men and women who have put their lives on the line, to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, and to military families, is steadfast and unquestionable".

Harry is seen on arrival in Afghanistan's Helmand Province in 2012. Although Harry retired from the military in 2015, he remains closely involved with the armed forces.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have responded to the report about the changes in their son, Archie's birth certificate. The 2020 Invictus Games was to be held in The Hague, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The birth certificate of Prince Harry's son was apparently altered on 5 June, just a few weeks after the Sussexes received it, The Sun revealed, citing the edited document, which was first spotted by Lady Colin Campbell.

Those apologies were posted by the outlets in January, along with a message that they would be making a sizeable donation to the Invictus Games Foundation.

The Duke of Sussex was appointed Captain General Royal Marines by the Queen in 2017, but is not using the title at the moment following the Sussexes stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020.

They will be examined in March as part of the monarchy's 12-month review of the Sussexes' departure arrangements.

Harry's now also says "His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex" in the father box.
