Why The Pandemic Will Be Explored On The SATC Reboot

Why The Pandemic Will Be Explored On The SATC Reboot”

Sarah Jessica Parker told Vanity Fair that the pandemic will "obviously be part of the storyline, because that's the city [these characters] live in". "I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all".

"The series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s", the show's description reads.

It's the latest controversy to hit the proposed 10 episode reboot, which has already revealed that Kim Cattrall's character Samantha will not be returning to the series. Big (played by Chris Noth) were happily married, despite Carrie's run-in with ex-fiancé Aiden Shaw, Charlotte and husband Harry Goldenblatt have two children, Miranda and Steve had coped with his extramarital affair and Samantha, having broken up with actor Smith Jerrod, was single and swinging.

Production is slated to begin on the new series in the spring, and Parker can't wait to see how the characters have changed in the time since we last saw them.

And Parker has promised that the new ten-episode series will tackle a rich variety of themes, with the writer's room including a diverse range of voices. You know, who're they on this world now? Are they like some people who are confused, threatened, nervous (by what's happening in the world)? "So somehow, I imagine she'll be there in spirit and as an inspiration that gives them a chance of exploring sexuality with different characters [without Samantha hogging the libidinous spotlight]".

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, she added: "What is their relationship to social media?" When the 9/11 terror attacks rocked NY, the show never directly addressed it, but the twin towers were removed from the opening credits, and Carrie gave a wistful voiceover in which she said "seasons change, so do cities".

"Is [Carrie] still writing a column?" Has she written any more books? What does fashion mean to her now? "There will be lots of interesting, new characters we are super excited about".

Also as a New Yorker living through COVID right now, I can't say I'm excited to see what that looks like to a group of upper-middle-class/rich white women. "How have the friendships changed or not changed, and has her social circle grown?"
