Nike Is Releasing 'Hands-Free' Shoes This Month”

"Nike when they do things... they just do it. They have a heart and a soul".

The shoes have gathered quite a reaction on social media, with some claiming that the term "hands-free runner" is freaky, however, many were quick to point out that this type of shoe could be particularly beneficial for those with certain physical disabilities.

Nike said the sneaker, part of its FlyEase line, would be "available via invite for select Nike Members" in North America, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa starting on February 15 and would be "available more broadly in the months to come". He then revealed he was able to present the idea to Nike in a meeting only to learn that they had already been working on the FlyEase for 10 years.

Nike just unveiled its first sneaker that you can slip on hands-free — take a look at the $120 shoes

Nike has made its first sneaker that is completely hands-free. Look familiar? Sorry we beat you to the punch. Here's how you can get your hands on the shoes you don't need to put your hands on.

The core innovation here is a so-called bistable hinge that lets the shoe move between two positions: an upright one in which the inner sole of the shoe sits at a roughly 30-degree angle so you can easily slip your foot in, and the collapsed position in which the outer layer sits snugly around the inner one while you walk or run. It also keeps the shoe closed when in use. Essentially, shoppers won't have to worry about damaging the back of their sneakers.

In addition to providing convenience, the FlyEase can solve problems for the elderly, the disabled as well as those suffering from chronic pain and illness. Nike says it started developing the shoe for people with disabilities in mind, but realized it created a technology that can be useful to anyone, from pregnant women who have a hard time bending over to people who just have their hands full and are trying to get out the door. The FlyEase also provides comfort and security.
