Apple's Electric Car Expected 2025 With 18-Minute Fast Charge”

Now, as per a report from Korea's DongA.Com, Apple is in talks to invest a KRW 4 trillion (~ $3.6 billion) in Hyundai's Kia subsidiary.

A report on Wednesday claims Apple's first foray into the automotive industry will be a fully autonomous vehicle created to operate without a human driver, suggesting it might not be marketed as a consumer product.

Although the recent hiring by Apple on its automobile project seems to bring some level of credence to rumours but according to some analysts and reports, the end product is still years away. It says the new EVs will be made at a KIA plant in the United States, with the deal to be signed on February 17. Overall, Apple is said to have planned an initial run of 400,000 units for its first electric auto.

Additionally, Hyundai Glovis - which provides auto distribution as well as a wide range of logistics services - will reportedly play a key role once the Apple vehicle hits the market.

According to CNBC's sources, Apple has made a decision to pursue a partnership with Hyundai-Kia because the deal gives Apple access to an established automaker with the capability to produce vehicles in North America.

The companies have not yet finalised a deal and Apple might also decide to tie-up with another automaker either separately or with Hyundai, the report said.

A representative for the carmaker in Seoul and an Apple representative in California declined to comment.

E-GMP is Hyundai's first dedicated Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) platform. Hyundai-Kia is also willing to give Apple control over both the ‌Apple Car‌ software and the hardware, with Apple planning for a full Apple-branded vehicle and not a Kia model that includes Apple software.
