Instagram working on TikTok-like vertical Stories feed

Instagram working on TikTok-like vertical Stories feed”

According to a new report coming from TechCrunch, the photo-sharing application is working on bringing vertical feed for Stories.

The upcoming Instagram feature has been inspired by TikTok's vertical feed for Stories feature. In fact, the short videos platform was among the first ones to bring such a story format. Here's a closer look at the removal of the Instagram feature. The platform launched Reels a year ago soon after TikTok was banned in India. It's nearly like the attempts to import TikTok's whole short-form viral video content ~thing~ into a platform with the pre-existing goal of sharing photos isn't going as easily as planned!

It was Alessandro Paluzzi who spotted the "Vertical Stories" feature in code under development, and shared the discovery on his Twitter account. The feature is under testing and not available for users for now.

Instagram in the end of last week started sending a pop up notification to a selected bunch of users.

Currently, users scroll Instagram stories horizontally, tapping or swiping the right side of the screen to move forward or the left side to go backward.

For now, disabling reshares remains a test, much like the changes to likes the company considered and the variety of new app layouts it has prototyped. Soon after TikTok ban, many Indian as well as global tech companies offered their own version of TikTok to users.

We are all slaves to Instagram, therefore they can do whatever they like to their platform. The idea is to prevent users from sharing a feed post to their stories, as the Instagram community apparently wants to see fewer posts in stories. And now the app is looking to its new rival TikTok for ways to increase engagement and retention: vertical scrolling. If you can see someone stories on the top portion of your app that is because you follow them and if you follow them you will naturally be able to see what they posted on their feed, so them taking it to their story to let their followers know what they posted should be off the charts.
