Mass Effect Legendary Edition Developer Outlines New Features

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Developer Outlines New Features”

For unfortunate reasons, the original game's Pinnacle Station add-on won't be included.

After a long wait, yesterday finally saw the announcement of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition's release date and with it, we've been given some more insight into what we can actually expect from the remastered version of the game. Following some leaks, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is now ready for launch on March 14th, 2021 for both Origin and Steam.

The Pinnacle Station DLC-which was originally created by Demiurge Studios rather than Bioware-sees Shepard and their crew head to a top secret space station and take on a number of combat challenges of increasing difficulty to earn rewards that can be taken into the rest of the game. Unfortunately, in an interview with Game Informer Legendary Edition project director Mac Walters reveals that despite the developers' best attempts, the DLC's source code is corrupted beyond fix. So much so, BioWare didn't even have a chance to release it on PS3 after first discovering the corruption of its source code in 2009.

This meant BioWare would need to recreate Pinnacle Station if it was going to make it into Legendary Edition.

Ultimately, y'know... you finish a game and there's things that you wished you had been able to do, things that you'd want to add on... for me, the extended cut was really that opportunity to add a little bit more love, a little bit more context around the ending. Three Games - One Launcher: Play by way of the single-player base content material and over 40 DLC from all three video games, together with promo weapons, armors, and packs. "And so, leaving it all on the cutting-room floor, it was heartbreaking".

Walters is referring strictly to single-player content.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will launch on May 14th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
