North Korea tried to hack Pfizer for coronavirus vaccine data, treatment

North Korea tried to hack Pfizer for coronavirus vaccine data, treatment”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's wife appeared in public on Wednesday for the first time in over a year, pictures released by the state media showed.

"As the General Secretary came to the auditorium of the theater together with his wife Ri Sol Ju amid the welcome music, all the participants burst into thunderous cheers of "Hurrah!", KCNA said".

Ri was last seen in January 2020 at an event for the Lunar New Year holiday.

North Korea has attempted to steal Covid-19 vaccine technology by hacking Pfizer Inc according to South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS), Yonhap news agency reported on Tuesday.

The anniversary celebrating the second member of the Kim dynasty to lead the now nuclear-armed North Korea is known as the Day of the Shining Star, and is one of the country's most important public holidays.

These new findings, revealed by the National Intelligence Service of South Korea, have contradicted the notion of North Korea being exclusively focused on producing their own vaccine, a notion which has been reiterated by its official sources.

The reported attempt by North Korea, although bold, is not all that surprising.

The rare border crossing Tuesday came as North Korea's prolonged lockdowns rolled back the number of defectors arriving in South Korea to an all-time low previous year.

Some 200 North Koreans settled in the South past year, down around 80% from 2019, Unification Minister Lee In-young has said, citing the reclusive state's shutdown of its frontiers in January 2020. Ri also joined Kim as they rode horses through the snow on North Korea's Mount Paektu, the symbolic seat of Kim family rule over the country.

The current South Korean government of President Moon Jae-in espouses rapprochement with North Korea and a negotiated settlement of the global standoff over North Korea's nuclear program.

Her extended absence prompted questions over her health, whether she might be in seclusion to avoid any risk of coronavirus infection, or pregnant - the couple are believed to have three children. Dennis Rodman, the offbeat basketball great who visited Kim in North Korea, said in 2013 he held the leader's baby girl in his arms, a daughter named Ju Ae.
