Winter Storm Watch Issued for Schuylkill County

Winter Storm Watch Issued for Schuylkill County”

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting the snow will mainly occur after 10 a.m. Thursday with a total snow accumulation of between three and five inches.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Areas of rain in our southeastern counties with a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow more likely across our northwestern counties. The latest forecast models are in and it looks like nearly all of us will be seeing some type of winter weather by early afternoon, before that freezing line splits our SE counties to a cold all rain event to a winter wx event in our NW counties early evening.

Snow showers are expected to linger into Friday.

It is still (unfortunately) HIGHLY uncertain where the freezing line will be tomorrow, but it seems reasonable to expect up to an inch of snow with the potential for freezing rain and sleet in northwest Alabama and Lincoln Co.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist James Gregorio says this will be the fourth winter storm that New Jersey has seen this month.

So the first necessary element for a snowstorm is in place - it's plenty cold, with the expected high of 30 on Wednesday a full 10 degrees below normal, according to National Weather Service statistics from Lehigh Valley International Airport.

A few locations are at or just above freezing, but the National Weather Service continues to have a Freeze Warning and Winter Storm Advisory in effect for most places until 9 a.m.

One to 2 inches of rain will be possible for the rest of the state through tonight. Northeast winds 5 to 10 miles per hour.

"Even though we haven't seen much snow out of this storm (knock on wood), we have seen freezing rain and mixed precipitation". Lows hovering in the low to mid 30s. Cloudy. Lows in the mid 20s.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 50s.
