FBI, US Attorney's Office investigating Gov. Cuomo's COVID-19 task force

FBI, US Attorney's Office investigating Gov. Cuomo's COVID-19 task force”

"We're in this business together and we don't cross certain lines and he said I hadn't seen his wrath and that he can destroy me", Kim said of the conversation with Cuomo.

The network added, "CNN has covered the news surrounding Governor Cuomo extensively". Families on Wednesday called for a federal probe.

The governor accused the assemblyman of switching sides on a 2015 law Kim created to regulate nail salons.

When contacted by The Times Union, a spokesperson for the USA attorney's office in Brooklyn couldn't "confirm or deny" if an investigation had been launched. However, as the NY governor's star rose thanks to his daily press briefings and the mainstream media showered the Democrat with praise for his "leadership", the network allowed its prime-time anchor to hold a series of chummy interviews with his brother in the early weeks of the pandemic.

That's despite coverage on other CNN shows, including Sunday's "State of the Union", on which host Jake Tapper criticized the state Health Department's since-rescinded, March 25 directive for nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients.

Last week, Cuomo's top aide Melissa DeRosa told Democratic lawmakers that the administration took months to release data revealing how many people living at nursing homes died of COVID-19 because officials "froze " over worries the information was "going to be used against us".

Assembly Member Ron Kim said Cuomo had vowed to "destroy" him during a private phone call last week for criticism he felt was unfair.

The Justice Department did not respond to Insider's request for comment.

Andrew Cuomo announced that 13 new community-based pop-up vaccination sites will be coming online this week at churches, community centers, public housing complexes, and cultural centers across the state to "bolster the state's commitment to ensuring fairness and equity in the vaccine distribution process".

Mr. Kim told CNN he received a call from the Democratic governor last week while he was giving his children a bath. She said they were anxious they would be used against them in a federal investigation.

Cuomo said the charges are a "lie", and said he's making his accusations against Assemblyman Kim because Kim attacked him first. "It nearly felt like, in retrospect, he was trying to bait me and anger me and say something inappropriate".

Cuomo reportedly called Kim at home the next day, promising to "destroy" Kim and spread how "bad of a person" the assembly man was, according to a statement from Kim cited by The New York Times.
