Sarah Everard's family pay emotional tribute to their 'bright and beautiful' daughter”

She never arrived. On Friday police confirmed that a body found hidden in woodland 50 miles (80 kilometers) southeast of the city is hers.

This follows on from the announcement from Dame Cressida Dick, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police stating a serving Metropolitan police offer has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and murder on 10 March, and she was aware it was "every family's worst nightmare" but it is "incredibly rare for a woman to be abducted from streets".

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that "there will be few - if any - women who don't completely understand and identify with this".

Organisers said police had "told women not to go out at night this week", but "women are not the problem", they pointed out.

In a tweet, they added: "We are now in discussions with the Met to confirm how the event can proceed in a way that is proportionate and safe - our number one priority".

"We remain highly disappointed that there is still no change to the Government's plan to separate domestic abuse from this strategy, a decision which will put the response to all forms of violence towards women and girls into reverse".

A BRITISH Green Party peer has called for a ban on all men being outdoors after 6pm in order to "make women a lot safer".

"It was about the fear that every woman felt about going out at night, and the behaviour of men, sexual harassment, groping, unwanted touching, comments, that sort of thing". A CCTV camera picked her out as she passed a residential street as 9.30pm. She was wearing a green rain jacket, navy blue pants with a white diamond pattern, and turquoise and orange trainers when she went missing.

The revelations are the latest twist in the case, which continues to make worldwide headlines and is the subject of an outpouring of grief from women all over the world.

'We are so grateful to the police and would like to thank them for all they are doing. Britain is now under lockdown due to the novel coronavirus, and while Birley said police had initially been trying to work with the organizers on how to safely execute the event, she said they have since declared the event unlawful.

On Thursday night, Ms Everard's family released a statement describing her as a "shining example to us all", and said she had "brought so much joy to our lives".

Ellie, 17, a pupil at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College, said the case had made her think about her own safety, "but it's not something that's new". "She always put others first and had the most incredible sense of humor".

"Throughout the pandemic, we have consistently enforced the Covid regulations and have made hard decisions during a range of gatherings on issues about which people have felt very strongly".

Birley said they are still working with police to figure out what protocols they would like to see for the vigil and the event has not been canceled yet.

"I know that the public feel hurt and angry about what has happened, and those are sentiments that I share personally, and I know my colleagues here at Scotland Yard and across the Met share as well", Ephgrave said.
