Video shows Asian American woman assaulted on NYC street

Video shows Asian American woman assaulted on NYC street”

As he kicked her to the ground and proceeded to repeatedly stomp the defenseless woman's head against the pavement, the assailant is said to have yelled, "F*** you, you don't belong here", according to witnesses.

Police described the incident as a "hate crime assault".

The Brodsky Organization, the company that owns the building, announced in a statement Monday that the "staff who witnessed the attack have been suspended pending an investigation in conjunciton with their union".

Over 3,800 hateful incidents against Asians, mostly women, have been carried out in the United States between 19 March 2020 and 28 February 2021, according to a report by Stop AAPI Hate.

Some commenters observed that the attacker walked away with the white Apple bag that the victim was initially holding, departing the train coach at the end of the video.

The second attack, outside of a luxury apartment complex in Manhattan, shows a black man approach an elderly Asian woman on the street and kick her to the ground.

Also on Monday, another individual was captured on cellphone video violently punching and choking an Asian American man on a subway train in Brooklyn.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the attack and has asked anyone with information to contact the department.

Mr Shea recently said the agency would increase its outreach and patrols in predominantly Asian communities.

"An attack on one group is an attack on all", he told NY1.

"Asian Americans for too long in this country have been shamefully scapegoated because of ignorant fear", New York Rep. Grace Meng said.

The attack comes amid a national spike in anti-Asian hate crimes, and happened just weeks after a mass shooting in Atlanta that left eight people dead, six of them women of Asian descent.

According to a report from Stop AAPI Hate, more than 3,795 incidents were reported to the organisation from March 19 last year to February 28 this year, but that is "only a fraction of the number of hate incidents that actually occur". Rallies have been held in dozens of US cities in recent weeks calling for an end to anti-Asian violence.
