Coyotes Drop Toddlers from Top of Border Wall

Coyotes Drop Toddlers from Top of Border Wall”

The toddler lays still on the ground for a few moments after her fall, before bringing herself to her feet as her 5-year-old sister lands next to her.

The smugglers were under cover of night, but a border agent captured the incident on a cellphone camera using night-vision technology.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents responded to a potentially life-threatening situation involving two female tender-aged toddlers mistreated and abandoned by human smugglers just west of Mt. Cristo Rey.

Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez in the El Paso sector, which includes parts of Texas and New Mexico, said an agent using a remote camera was able to spot a person straddling the barrier.

In a press conference this week, Former Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Chief Mark Morgan said the Biden administration has released a total of 45,000 border crossers and migrants into the US interior.

The children were taken to a CBP station in Santa Teresa, New Mexico to be evaluated by medical personnel, and then were transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) criticized the Biden administration over the influx of illegal immigrants at the southern border during a press briefing in McAllen, Texas on Tuesday. The number of children and families attempting to cross the border increased by more than 100% between January and February. Responding agents found the three-year-old and five-year-old Ecuadoran children and rendered aid to them. Last month, almost 9,500 unaccompanied children arrived at the U.S. -Mexico border, a record high for any February in history. In an effort to speed things up, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has ordered case workers who are tasked with facilitating these transfers to work seven days a week.

President Joe Biden's administration is facing growing pressure to confront the situation and criticisms about how the unaccompanied minors have been cared for while under U.S. government custody.

Critics say the Biden administration should have been better prepared to manage migration flows before relaxing policies.
